Forest Fires/Deforestation

My next concentration piece is in the works. The materials are black wire, tree bark, and something to hold the two together like hot glue i guess. I will be making a frame out of the wire and glueing on pieces of the tree bark to it. Then I want to char the bark with a torch. However, i may want to do that before i glue the pieces on. the wire frame will be shaped in some kind of organic shape. I'm thinking of like a funnel shape, like one of those chinese yo-yo things.

Hunger

Pollution

Terrorism

Racism

Concentration fo sho

Thanks to Amy B, i settled on an AP 3D concentration for this year. Basically i am basing my work around world problems like poverty, terrorism, hunger, pollution, etc. so far i have enjoyed using metaphors to illustrate some of these problems. To show racial tensions i am building a small wall of crayons, the colors represent the races of the world. I'll update next week and keep you all updated on my projects' status. -_-

Picture Project

i am having a little bit of trouble coming up with a strong idea for my next piece, it has to be inspired by a picture i took in portland on our gallery field trip. I chose a picture of a bird in the sky, representing freedom. I want to cut out bird shapes from aluminum cans and just go from there ha ha

OCAC

The presentation last class by the rep. from Oregon College of Arts and Craft was very interesting. she showed more works that caught my eye like body casting and instillations. At the time, I was more interested in this school than CCA because she talked about more things that interested me because to be quite honest, watching a slide show of 2D art is a little boring. However I still like CCA allot because of it location, San Francisco

CCA visit

I really enjoyed the CCA visit. One reason i would consider going is because of the location. SanFrancisco looks like a very cultured and creative city. CCA has alot of different majors ranging from 2D to 3D to everything in between. I liked alot of the art she showed us on the slide show

Retreeeeat

The Retreat was good. I learned alot about molds and casting things from our guest artist Jacob. I stacked stones in two towers as my impermanent natural piece. I am almost done with found object piec and will finish that in class.

cOnCeNtRaTiOn

Although I still don't know what my concentration is, I have a few ideas. I am really interested in dreams and how your thoughts get away from you while sleeping. i want to do something more specific like Nightmares but i don't want to do something that dark.
