So my family piece broke.. although its still usable and i can glue it together after it is all fully fired, I still want to scream my face off for it breaking. I did, however, finish my assemblage project tonight! THIS PICTURE IS NOT MINE but my piece is meant to hang like this one. I think it turned out pretty well actually. I used a combination of dominoes, tea bags, feathers, and a barbie.

I just attached the arms to my monster father. they are long, come to a point and drag behind the figure. Once fired, i want to try to give it a shadowy, ghostly look so I will have to think through some ideas with stains. I'm really excited about this piece. I hope this will be my first success in class

This week in class we began working on a ceramic piece based around the theme of family. Some of my class mates are throwing different sized pots to represent a family while others are making slabs. I decided to hand build with my fresh bag of Pendleton Red.. nice. So I'm not sure if this is allowed or even part of the assignment but I am focussing in on a darker side of family: physical abuse. My hope is to capture the essence of an abusive father through the child's eyes. I am making two sculptures. One, a small smooth figure: the innocent child. And the other, a huge, petrifying monster: the unjust parent. I hope to remind people about the dark sides of some families
