This year I want a concentraion that deals with the human body. whether I am using metal or ceramic or whatever I want to highlight the beauty of the shapes and forms and lines of our own bodies. More specifically, I am interested in the human skeleton. In regards to this, I had an idea: every concentration piece of mine would be a portion of a skeleton. Hopefully i the end I would have and entire human skeleton.

So my family piece broke.. although its still usable and i can glue it together after it is all fully fired, I still want to scream my face off for it breaking. I did, however, finish my assemblage project tonight! THIS PICTURE IS NOT MINE but my piece is meant to hang like this one. I think it turned out pretty well actually. I used a combination of dominoes, tea bags, feathers, and a barbie.

I just attached the arms to my monster father. they are long, come to a point and drag behind the figure. Once fired, i want to try to give it a shadowy, ghostly look so I will have to think through some ideas with stains. I'm really excited about this piece. I hope this will be my first success in class

This week in class we began working on a ceramic piece based around the theme of family. Some of my class mates are throwing different sized pots to represent a family while others are making slabs. I decided to hand build with my fresh bag of Pendleton Red.. nice. So I'm not sure if this is allowed or even part of the assignment but I am focussing in on a darker side of family: physical abuse. My hope is to capture the essence of an abusive father through the child's eyes. I am making two sculptures. One, a small smooth figure: the innocent child. And the other, a huge, petrifying monster: the unjust parent. I hope to remind people about the dark sides of some families

Diane LoU

Well in class we are privledged to have ANOTHER guest artist!! Her name is Daine Lou and she makes incredible work from gathering old toys, bones, and just "junk". she uses different techniques to manipulate the mind of the viewer. making some parts seem very familiar and others unfamiliar. All in all i am really excited to see what she has to say about her stuff

Due to some technical difficulties of air expansion, I need to start my sara davis tube project again. my last one was a pitcher like these but very different. No handle with a shape that fit to your hand. I havn't decided how it will be glazed yet but my focus now is just on getting it done with and into the bisque stage

Hey so this next project we are working on a piece of contraversial art. I hope to base mine around abortion or police brutality. Most likely i will use a mixed media and avoid using clay but as I make more sketches the ideas evolve!
